30kg Pinkie
Submitted by Seaquest on Mon, 2010-01-04 12:59
Just been down to the local tackle store where I heard a rumor of a 30kg pinkie been caught of Cape Naturalist.
Has anyone else heard this or know any more. Sounds a bit far-fetched but who knows. Do they grow this big?

OK. "Pinkie" = Smapper. I've
OK.
"Pinkie" = Snapper.
I've seen them over 40lb in S.A. 30 yrs ago. Regulaly.
In my boat too. But the biggest I could ever lay claim to. was 39 and a leetle bit.
"Pinkies" up here in Q'Land. are Large mouth Nannigai.
and a 40lber of them would be a real biggie.
Great eating too.
I prefer them to Red's.. (Emperor). and trout.

30kg!! WOW
I have seen a 25kg pink snapper caught on a surface shark hook in the 7 footers off Cervantes. Nigel Cowie caught it.
I never saw it hang on the scales, so no real proof of weight but in the cray bag it hung a third out. 5.5 foot long
The old man took me round to see it. This was 10years ago now
Ive been tryiny to get my hands on the photo for a long time now but no luck.
Old skippers are bitter old pills and it will probly vanish in history knowing him.

I dunno
Googled and found this
It could be a new Australian record for the biggest snapper caught in South Australia at Arno Bay area but caught by a victoria sadly..20kg its still being verifyed..
the guy said..."The initial weight of this fish was at 42lb but after checking the scales used to weigh it against 2 sets of salter scales & also doing a comparison with buckets of water at the local butcher shop with scales certified for trade use this fish weighed 44lb, yes 20kg. It is going to be mounted for all to see & once done will live on the wall at Hotel Arno for all to see.""
off fishwrecked so if they can get to a wopping 20kg whats 30kg ? be dam massive and rare also a pic should be out n about .. I wonder how heavy the one caught in franksont 1883 was.. could not find anything on it :(
