3500hd for spinning?

Hey guys does anyone use the 3500HD for spinning metals and such for bonnies/queenies etc..
Theres really no equivlant in the shimano range size with a high gear ratio..rather than the twinpowers which i dont like and the exxy stella SW5000HG ... the discontinued 5000FA stella would be the go but hard to find..
so if anyone uses the 3500hd spinning metals /poppers and such whats it like? And whats it like using a slower gear whats the whole advantage? IN theory wouldnt it be easier pulling big snapper/kings off the reef quickly with a higher gear ratio?
Cheers guys!

The
The stella/fireblood/twinspowers in the 4000 size are all around 73cm/turn. The stradics are 90ish, but I'm not sure if you'd prefer them over the twin powers? As you mentioned the 5000's are pretty fast (100+).
I dont know what the retreive ratios for the certate is, daiwa dont seem to make it immediately obvious (it may be in the catalog). From memory most are around mid 70cm/turn. The actual gear ratio doesnt really mean much, seeing as the rotor diameter itself acts as a gear. Only really comparable to same sized spool reels. The HD is just a custom model, I dont think its any faster than say the 4000 (or much faster than the shimanos).
I'm using an aspire for popping and spinning, but frankly its a bit slow (might be slower than the stella, I have a feeling its 62cm for some reason). On the plus side its so smooth, cranking fast is easier. Havent done a heap though, so hopefully guys with a lot more experience can give you a proper answer.
As for pulling fish, some people go on about 'cranking power', but seeing as you're usually pumping and winding when fighting a fish, a faster retreive ratio allows you to recover line with less handle turns (so can be a bit faster). If you're lifting heavy sinkers or jigs, cranking power can matter though, but i'm guessing thats not what you are doing? Theres a lot of confusion in terms of gear ratios/cranking power/handle length, etc. Slower gears can be more useful if you're working stuff slower (e.g. minnows or plastics). Why they dont make higher speed, small size, high end reels, I dont know. I'd like to buy one if I could find one though.

I use the 3500HD quite reguarly for spining and find it fine. they are awsome reels and i now have two. Great for jigging, casting etc. heaps of grunt and imo better than the stellas in the same size. Well worth the coin. The line roller bearings are the only down fall but one of mine is 4 years old caught alot of fish and still hasnt let go yet. But i know with one that have. Still worth the money and cant be conpared to a twinpower or such as there in a different league imo.
