When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

Mostly fanky jigs and a few other jigs. I had tried 2 of them from a previous trip and went crazy on the day you were out on that charter i landed a beaut and then the sharks took the jigs off me unfortunately. Il upload a picture that i have on my phone in a sec....Majority of the best shops are in Denpasar about 25mins from Kuta in a taxi

yes Ron, all from Bali. I think paying for over weight is hefty, 2 yrs ago i was over weight and paid $20 a kilo...i was 10kg overweight that time. From what i recall we had expensive gear so it still worked out cheaper. Depends on what your buying...if its bali furniture then i think sending it on a container may be cheaper, you would have to do your homework

Sat, 2010-11-27 16:50

Hekser you're gonna get destroyed fishing 40lb on a stradic for sambo's out there. :)

Hope you've got some spare braid and lots of rigs (and a video camera).

Good luck mate, look forward to the report!

Sambos on 80lb

Sat, 2010-11-27 17:26

There must be a million posts on the forums saying you should fish sambos on 80lb, so the fish release well.

You won't even budge the sharks on less than 80lb, the last one I had on was just silly.

im not rich

Sat, 2010-11-27 17:05

braids expensive shit, its spooled with 40lb my other reel has 15kg mono... the other has 30lb braid and unfortuanetly my 950ssm has nothing on it...

ill still maybe land fish right? it will just be bullshit to get em up and after 1 ill probably have had enough and be drinkign beer? coz that could work....

i got a spool of 50lb mono on the boat.. but everyone rekns better to go jigging with braid...? is it worth spooling the 950 with mono?

When you eventually buy some more braid Hekser, spool up the 950ssm.

Not as nice to use as your stradic but it will be able to handle more punishment.

Look after the fish, look after the fishery. Tired & dead fish are whats going to get it shut down and the braid costs less than your petrol.

if i catch a big sambo

Sat, 2010-11-27 17:37

i take a foto and it goes back, if it cant hack it and wants to die thats natural selection i hope it makes good shark food.

if i catch a medium to small it goes in teh esky.. ive only ever been there once.. and id like to have something to show for the 140$ of petrol i put in.. :S

i fish catch and release. but i took a sambo home before and it was good eating... just heard they dont freeze well.. but i have enough mates and family to pass it off on..

mate

i agree with you, only one way to learn and that is... do it or ask about it....

just try to do it safely.. i am still learning myself.

i have been out there many times and i am only a novice compared to some of the guys on here, take there advice onboard and you cant go wrong.

fight the fish long enough and you could prob land it?

i remember a couple of weeks ago guys were saying the sharks were immposible to land and we were all insane, dont go out there you will get smoked!!!!!

since then the story has changed, they are catchable and that has been proven now.

it is only there opinon after all....

cheers ron
