Bag limits over two days?

A couple weeks back i saw a post on Facebook where a bloke caught 4 snapper by himself and kept all 4 saying that he was not breaking any rules as he caught 2 prior to midnight and 2 after midnight.

Ive copied this from fisheries guidlines.

Mixed species daily bag limit

This is the combined maximum number of fish of

any species within one category (such as demersal

or large pelagic) that a fisher may take or bring

on to land in any 24-hour period (from midnight to

midnight, except from midday to midday for marron

and when recreationally netting).

My interpretation from this leads me to belive irelevant of the time caught it states "that a fisher may take or bring onto land" so therefore for him to keep 4 he must bring 2 to shore before midnight, then head out again after midnight.

How does everyone else veiw this?

no, thats not correct. Not really up to speed on the coastal over night limits but at the islands you cant have more than 1 days whole fish or 10kg fillets (still inside your daily limits though).

So after the first day you must fillet onboard.

I thought there was a clause about "more than *** hours before or after midnight", not sure if still is though?

Isnt the coastal possession limit "2 days bag limit whole fish"?

Sorry I cant open the guide, shitty internet out here at sea.

possession limit

there are specific rules for the ahbrohlos Rob but mostly the rest of the WCB is a normal trip limit 2 days bag limit of whole fish or 20kg of fillets providing you then have to follow the filleting at sea rules (different to if you are towing your boat on the road) or 10kg of fillets and 1 days bag limit

also if you use the whole fish method boat limits still apply to dhufish so thats a max of 2 per rec boat and 1 trout per day per RFBL, a day ends at midnight

there are max size limits on some cods etc, there are rules that need to be followed with them ie they must be landed

interesting

interesting one as I've got to make sure of the proper rules for when I start my landbased tours especially the overnight tours. Might go get it straight from the horses mouth at fisheries dpt.

 We occasionally do over

We occasionally do over night charters so we have checked with fisheries before and yes, if you come in after midnight you can have 2 days bag limit. But this means that you allready have your bag limit for the day you came in on. So no more fishing untill the day after agian. Not fully sure about special boat limits that apply down south though. And of course normal posession limits will allways apply.
