Best Value for money 60hp outboard

On the market for a new outboard .

Seems the 2 stroke market hasnt had a facelift for a long time and all seems old tech except for the etecs.

The Honda/Tohatsu 4 strokes seem to have a very good power to weight ratio. Not sure on the price though

Everyone seems to rave about the Yamys but they are the most expensive (reminds me alot of toyota)

New Etecs

The new Etecs would be worth looking at, I've got about 400 hour up on my 60 Etec and never had an ounce of trouble with it and with the new ones promising about 20% reduction on fuel consumption that's excellent.

no probs

With the new mercury 4 strokes. Theyre generally the cheapest, and while no suzuki or yammy, performs really well, excellent on  fuel, nice and quiet, and has a 5 year warranty, so they won my cash.

Mate went through the same dilemma. Ended up going with Honda as they had a great cashback deal on at the time.
Up to 400 odd hours with nil issues so far.

Tohatsu

2 stroke Tohatsu would be close to best value for money, I think a few remote camp operators like them because they are so reliable and can be fixed with a tool box instead of a computer.my 15hp starts first time every go

I have a 15HP Yamaha and a 175 Suzuki- I would go either as they both perform excelently. All the big brands are good and closely matched so I would be considering dealer location & reputation, servicing costs, waranty, cost....
