Bunbury Dhueys

Headed out last week off Bunbury with a mate (optimont) for what ended up being a great day of fishing. Conditions were perfect with no swell, little chop and a light breeze blowing. After the morning session produced a nice size blackarse there wasn't much else around as we drifted through a few different spots.

Just after lunch time we were on what was going to be almost our last drift when one of optimont's rods fully loaded up in the holder. After a good 10 minute fight on the pe3 gear a beautiful 15kg dhue flopped on the deck. Before we got a chance for any sort of celebration his other rod loaded and another 10 minutes later a 12kg model appeared. Unfortunately while bringing this one in his line got tangled with mine and it wasn't until he'd landed his dhue that I realised I was also on. Up came a 6-7kg model which, while it saved me from having to run naked around the pool table, went back in the drink and swam away.

Two very nice dhus there mate.

Do you mind me asking how deep you were fishing? We got some good sized dhus in about 25m when the ban lifted so wondering if the bigger dhus have gone deeper now that most of the crays have walked?

Cheers

Thanks GGs. We were in between about 38-40 metres from memory. The bites happened right around the turn of the tide so I don't know if that was the reason or not.
