It was good to see some familiar faces around today and I had some fun.
So who went?
How did you go and did your plans work?
and what would you do differently next year?

Well i am not sure theres to many of us that are on the forum that went in it looking at responses around the place but i will give it a burl.
It was very windy and there was a lot of concern amongst the kayaker competeors as this would effect where we would go,we could try for that distance hot spot but would will be able to get back in time ?
My plan was get my bag of 5 in close which i did by just after 8 am, then i headed out to get some nice upgrades, out futher the eventual winners had a nice bag already , but then came the big shutdown, i never saw a squid landed after 8.15 am by anybody in the area including the winner that had a great bag of 5 and could not believe believe there eyes (two on a tandem)Daniel was saying he was wrapped to be looking for upgrades that early in the morning .
So my tactic next round will be to go for broke to the distance hotspot next round because it could be all over by 8am again,,
Next year there will be a squid angler of the year prize with points from 3 rounds added up i thought i would mention.
Does anybody know how to get some photos up ? I use to link my photos from photo bucket but the last few months somethings changed on FW and i can no longer copy and paste a link for some reason,,,

I don't get inked much unfornatly so i missed out on some good prizes there,,i will aim a few squid at my face next time,,

i was out there in my boat.
i was out there in my boat. our bag of ten weighed 3.475 kgs. they were all roughly the same size. ended up with 27 for the morning. next comp will have to do some more research to find ones like the winners of the boating section.

Caught 22 on the jetski. Was
Caught 22 on the jetski. Was pretty quiet early in the shallows with 4 tiny squid, at 8.30 we went to Garden Island and got 18 pretty quickly, Orange Yozuri and Orange razor back were kiling them. When the wind died out there around 10am, the squid shut down on the bright colours, only taking the naturals with a bit of orange on them. That kid that caught that huge 1.5kg squid was drifting over the same patch as us, and we could hear them carrying on but didnt realise why until we got to the weigh-in, MASSIVE!

had no plans as we have
had no plans as we have never fished the sound from the boat. what would i do next year..... reaserch on the place granted we boated 36 squit but we couldnt find ne huge ones wich was dissapointing . was a fantastic day id recomend to any one

Was really good early on,
Was really good early on, but as the others experienced there was a big shutdown as soon as the sun was overhead.
With the the dredge on heaps of spots were crap but did manage to find 11 squid and most of them were pretty damn small (smaller than a 3.5 size jig).
It was pretty close on the scoreboard with the top 4 spots having a difference of around 400 grams I think.
