Indian Chief

There are some good reports of their catches of late with all anglers getting their bag limits from Indian Chief charters doing day trips'

For longer trips its Top Gun 2, they leave Sunday mornings and return on Thursday afternoon, their reports are top notch as well

Yep was looking at Top Gun. Just don't want to go there and catch pinkies and get sharked. I presume you get baldies, trout, reds?

Top fish

Doesn't matter where you go for the next 6 weeks because you are going to get pinkies while they are spawning. Both boats get out deep after red and in close for baldies and trout plus chase mackies and whahoo for those who like catching them.
Would recommend either charter to anyone wanting to catch decent fish.

Indian Chief Charters have a good reputation. Check out their website.

The flesh on the pinkies has been mushy lately, which had me thinking they were spawning!

I never had this problem with metro snapper when spawning.

Please experts clarify.

Thanks

Energy

They burn up that much energy when spawning that what fat they have put on burns off and the flesh goes all mushy.
The same would happen down there if you still could fish Cockburn sound when spawning occurs there.
Up here off Koks Island there are literally thousands of them congregating on all the reefs in the area all over a four week period

So hard to get passed them

to get anything else. But in most peoples opinions that would not be a bad thing. Just go lighter on the gear and have a ball.

Lady Joyce

Took a run out to the Lady Joyce wreck today and brought home our 4 pinkies between the 2 of us, flesh was nice and firm so would guess they haven't started spawning inside yet

Yeah fair enough, just interested as to what actually happened. I spent a week on it a few years ago, nice boat but rolled around a fair bit in any sea or swell from memory.

I dont know the story to what

Mon, 2015-07-20 22:50

I dont know the story to what happened, but the boat held up ok. Only broke the sonar which was around $100k worth. Yeah its a very nice boat, alot of boat to clean haha. I like the rock of it as its very long and slow compared to other boats, easier to work in.
