Chasing a recommendation on an inflatable mattress for a trip away

towing the boat so be sleeping in a tent

self inflating mattress was our last one and didn’t love it could still feel the ground

chasing an inflatable one with a built in motor

any of you boys using one that you can recommend for two adults that hopefully won’t go down to often (wishful I know when talking about an air mattress)

no good

ive done heaps of camping, and started off with a few inflatable mattresses, and didn't realise the harm they were doing! they don't insulate at all (and furthermore put cold air straight under you), and were making my back very cold at night, which aggravated my back/spine issues severely.

I went to self inflating/foam mattresses, and bingo, no more back problems, and a much better, more comfortable, warmer sleep.

that being said, if you were dead keen on an inflatable mattress, Coleman did the best one I slept on, it was a "Bigfoot", in king size. it was close to $200 from memory, but worth it. I found if I pumped it up pretty hard, and it was more comfortable than if it were soft.

ive had a couple of different brands of the self inflating mattresses, but the one I’ve come back to and is the best one is the oztrail queen size. Not so fun packing it up though!

I did a bit of research and ended up getting a Exped Megamat 10. Not cheap ($439 for double) but 10cm thick and rolls up really small. Includes hand pump as well to adjust to personal preference. Very comfortable.

Dune Premium King Single, pretty damn happy with the one I have. I think it's 130mm thick. Dont buy second hand unless it really is pretty new as when they get a bit used they are bloody terrible.

Mate went down the inflatable mattress path twice and both times spent his holidays sleeping on a deflated bed. For me a camp stretcher and a self inflating mattress works well as l like a firm bed.

I’m very happy with the Blackwolf Mega Deluxe. 2 singles can be joined together. Google best camping mattresses 2019 and you will find a certain South Australian store with a good summary of their top 10... and why.

Gee whiz have you kids gone soft. When I was youngster camping all we did was a ground sheet, mattresses for camping- what are those?
