coral bay windy times?

hey all,

when i planned my last tip to coral bay i was told im mad coz it will be too windy (was in january) and that i should go mid year so were going to do another trip late june when it is meant to be more calm, but looking on the BOM site june/july 2011 was alot more windy than January 2011 + 2012, am i missing something??

Wind

Fri, 2012-05-11 15:41

The winds start up this way around August and continue till March, SE turning SSW then SW at 25 knots every day until a trough forms on the coast giving us a couple of days break. If the wind stops during summer we cook otherwise its 28 - 32 deg through summer.

Winter is the best time to go by far.

Hey El Syd our first trip to Gnaraloo was in Mid August and the weather was beautiful every day. We went in June last year and it blew up for four days straight. Just gotta get lucky. We are heading up next week and you don't know how hard my bloody fingers are crossed ;)

Basically if I was picking one month not to go it would be january. If its not windy its fkn hot. Before and including march is risky, september onwards also. Im booked in october this year to go with friends, crossing fingers!

August

You still get your good days in august, but its when the equinoxial gales se easters start and you can easily get blown out. Carnarvonite is on the money from my experience. Ccc on the money that april is best, may is northerlies and june/july good but the cold fronts do occasionally push all the way through.
