hey all, whats with people not filling their details in on their account, it amazes me that people will not say what area they live or type of fishing they like ? it seems strange to me what do other people think????? cheers

Its the first thing I look at
Its the first thing I look at when someone is looking for advice. Particularly those wanting to head north asking for spots. Have a look and see what they have contributed and whether they will actually appreciate a tip or just take it and vanish.

Undies
We don't want to know what colour and when you change your undies just some details like, location, gear, experience??? certainly that isn't giving too much away.

profiles
personally i dont care what details they have / if any in the profile as its none of my business what gear they own ! its not like your only going to take them if they own gear thats up to a set standard .... are you? i think you can tell alot more about a user by the content they have contributed via forum atleast then you get a better idea on the person rather than a profile that tells people what they "want to hear". just my 2 cents oh and yes i have filled mine in;)

Yeah - I'm with Brenz on this
Yeah - I'm with Brenz on this one Ryan C. I think it's entirely up to the individual how much, if any, info they add to their profiles. The "track" function is enough to find out a bit more about the person if I'm after a bit more info about them. Otherwise you might get a whole heap of BS that the person wants everyone else to see.

Location
It doesn't have to be your soul laid bare, just a location, age, and fishing interests is more than sufficient. If you want to put your gear etc, then that's optional IMO.
Wouldn't hurt to list if your keen to chip in and be a deckie though.

Location, age and fishing interests. It's not that difficult.

Buy / sell
If you see an ad in the buy /sell section and the price is acceptable and you have a look at where the seller is from, nothing there!! certainly makes you think twice before sending you money off to a complete stranger who may have opened the account for the purpose of fleecing the innocents.

Agreed fellas. Was very interested in buying a few things that have been put up lately but turned off by the lack of info and input. If they had contributed on a semi/regular basis other than to flog gear I would have been more comfortable parting with my cash.

details
my point is definately not about what gear you have , some of the most active and entertaining people on this site don't have a mountain of expensive gear(like all my mates they just lose/use mineLOL!!!) but it is nice to read a comment or topic and be able to look at the persons age/location/interests jmo. cheers

Some details
I'm on the team that wants SOME info there - sometimes when looking for a deckie, and someone has put it out there that they are available, I always look to see where they are - I'm in Safety Bay, so don't want to get excited about someone from South Jurien without wheels who wants to come out at a moment's notice - and their details come up blank!
My guestes usually have better gear than me - I'm certainly no snob there!
Age bracket would be nice too - you don't have to give your date of birth - but 'junior', 'young adult' or even 'retired' gives us a clue about you. Not everyone puts a pic of themselves as their avatar...
That's my 2 cents worth...
Gee, now I know I'm feeling 'slightly older' - I remember when it was 2 bobs worth... (That's 20 cents for the young ones!) :)

LOL Juneka
Just looked at your profile, and "been around a while" is an interesting age. I just leave mine as it stays as posted originally, and thus I get younger each year.
Cheers

Sounds like there is a few off us Jaaps on here
Just a little laugh for us few:
Pasop vir die Boere
Barack Obama was sitting in his office wondering which country to invade next, when his telephone rang.
"Howzit, Barack!" a voice in broken English said. "This is Koos Vannermerwe here from the Doringboom Bar in Welkom , South Africa . I am ringing to inform you that we are officially declaring war on you, boet!"
"Well, Koos," Barack replied, "This is indeed important news! How big is your army?"
"Right now," said Koos, after a moment's calculation, "there is myself, my cousin Jan, my next-door neighbour Lang Hannes, and the entire darts team from the pub. That makes eight of us!"
Barack paused. "I must tell you, Koos, that I have one million men in my army waiting to move on my command."
"Blikkiesfontein!" said Koos. "I'll have to ring you back!" Sure enough, the next day, Koos called again. "Barack, my china, the war is still on! We have managed to acquire some infantry equipment!"
"And what equipment would that be, Koos?" Barack asked.
"Well, we have four Hilux double-cabs, two kombis, an old Case bulldozer, and Vet Gert's John Deere tractor".
Barack sighed. "I must tell you, Koos, that I have 16,000 tanks and 14,000 armored personnel carriers. Also, I've increased my army to 1,5 million since we last spoke."
"Liewe erdvark!" said Koos. "I'll have to get back to you..." Sure enough, Koos rang again the next day. "Barack, ou swaer, the war is still on! We have managed to get ourselves airborne! We've modified Doepie's ultra-light with a couple of shotguns in the cockpit, and four okes from the Virginia Hengelklub have joined us as well!"
Barack was silent for a minute and then cleared his throat. "I must tell you, Koos, I have 10,000 bombers and 20,000 fighter planes. My military complex is surrounded by laser-guided, surface-to-air missile sites. And since we last spoke, I've increased my army to TWO MILLION!"
"Slaat my dood!", said Koos, "I'll have to ring you back." Sure enough, Koos called again the next day. "Jis, jis, jis, Barack! I am sorry to tell you that we've had to call off the war."
"I'm sorry to hear that," said Barack. "Why the sudden change of heart?"
"Well," said Koos, "we've all had a long chat over some klippies and coke, and decided there's no way we can feed two million prisoners of war!"

Not alot
Smiley, age, location and fishing interests are good. Anything else is at your discretion.
Not a good idea IMO to list all your bling as you don't know who's reading and what their intentions are.
