Kuala Rompin charter suggestions and tips chasing sailfish
Submitted by mikegonefishing on Mon, 2016-03-28 20:25
Hi guys,
My brother-in-law and I are planning a trip to chase sail fish in Rompin later this year in October. Looking at a 2-3 day charter
Has anybody done this before, and would you recommend the charter you went with?
Any other tips and hints in terms of preparation would be really appreciated.
Cheers
Mike

We used this outfit
We used this outfit http://www.rompinbluesailsfishing.com/ they were very good. They gave us all the info on what gear to take etc. But basically 30lb casting set up. Think I used a 4000 size diawa reel on a 7ft+ rod. We mostly fished livies which was very effective, did some popping/stickbaits but didn't hookup. Stayed at a place called lanjut something or other.

Trevor Robb (Aussie barra champion and guide) is now cocordinating Sailfish trips to KL.
Call his "secretary" Steve on 0407613583 and ask for dates / info.
There may even be a couple trips with Merv Hughes this year.

Long way to go just to catch pesky sails.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Cost.
The airfare & accomidation cost, would be cheaper to go to Malaysia. Haha
But still like Exmouth for more than just sails...
Cheers & Stay safe

There is that I suppose. Cheaper to go to Kl than Bali at the moment.

Thanks for your help guys.
Thanks for your help guys. Well my inlaws are from KL. So we're actually visiting the inlaws and this will be a quick road trip from KL to get away for a fish. Game fish is new to me. Biggest I've caught is a 10kg cobia at quobba.
I'll definitely check out those sources. Thanks guys
