A friend's dad had a 7.3m

Sun, 2010-01-31 19:28

A friend's dad had a 7.3m boat built by Westerberg. He likes the ride but he has never been happy with the finish, I heard it was still going back for repairs 2yrs after he picked it up.

Prhaps their older boats are better, Feral has always been happy with his.

Chivers

Mon, 2010-02-01 07:21

the new chivers look pretty good, built around the corner from the shop in Bibra Lakes - they will customise to a degree. Haven't been out in one but I know they put a lot of work into the design.

My dads boat is a 5.8m

Mon, 2010-02-01 17:21

My dads boat is a 5.8m Trendsetter Marine made in Rockingham. Was originally one of three made for pro abalone divers down the south coast.

While i think its fantasic to fish off at rest and great as a gamefishing/trolling boat, it is a bit sluggish in the water(maybe a bit underpowered by our motor 115hp?) and doesnt like going fast in choppy seas (15knts, or maybe thats me just being a wimp haha), looks a bit ugly, (bare ally) and has no real cabin to escape the elements in.

But then again it wasnt built for mega speed or for flash bling. Made to serve a purpose as a platform on the sea and it does that swell. Might be worth you enquiring with them as because their usual cliets are pro's and even the navy their no frills functional boats may be cheaper.

BUT IT IS UGLY. Look at my profile pic :)

Alucraft

Try Alucaft in Posner way Henderson, usually does pro boats but has access to just about any design on the market.
They built mine and all who have had a look at it are impressed with their workmanship and finish.

Good Plate Boats

Wed, 2010-02-03 18:23

We work with a number of Boat builders from an engine supply & install perspective, so we get to see them before all the paint & cover up goes on.

Have a look at Preston Craft Wangara - Mr. Kevin Preston -

They build a very strong "Dennis Walsh" designed hull and take absoulte pride in their workmanship.

Darrel from Goldstar also makes a very nice vessel

Good Luck !
