Mindarie boating

Thinking of heading out from Mindarie tomorrow. Swell looks around 2.5m so was wondering how is the safest way to head out through the reef systems. Usually fish out of Two Rocks but haven't fished out of Mindarie for a long time. From memory I used to pick a spot just south of Staggies reef and gun through there but am older and I suppose more cautious these days.

Mindarie leads
As you leave the marina there a 2 lead lights (white during the day) on the hill amongst the houses. These take you out south west. Line these up and you should be OK. Takes you well south of Staggies.

Just keep south of staggies
Just keep south of staggies and you should be ok. Just watch out for Obstical reef ( About 1km from shore ) on the right as you leave the marina

Iceman has it spot on
Definitely take his advise (which judging by your comment you already have)
Just for others looking in I would be highly cautious about doing the "just south of staggies" line in anything over 2m of swell.
I have been fishing out of Mindarie for near on 20 years and have seen plenty of close calls with boats going out between the leads and the southern tip of staggies. If its flat its fine no probs but any swell over 2m and you can potentially get breakers in several spots on the way out and if you don;t know where those spots are you can be surprised by some slightly bigger waves. If its 3m and above you would be mad to do anything but the leads, or if you know the area well you could slip between the inner and outer reefs and head out north of staggies but again if you don;t know the area well always head in and out on the leads.
Just watch out for pots as some idiots continue to put rec pots right in the middle of the leads. That really pisses me off, especially when they leave too much rope out for the depth they are fishing in.
Cheers

Yeah, be careful out of
Yeah, be careful out of Mindarie. I have come in from the north west after dark on a 2.5 m swell and it is terrifying!
Use the lead in's, much safer.
