The marine maps are stored on the phone so no data usuage required. Although, it will connect to the internet to grab google maps images if you have the overlay turned on. (obviously takes a bit to dl though)
it is the best app I have. No data use as Matt said. Makes a great back up should the GPS on the boat crap itself and good for storing your spots as a back up too.
