need info on the kalgan river

hay guys i just need some info and some tips on fishing the kalgan river, albany.

i'm staying at the caravan park at the mouth and i will be doing most of my fishing off my kayak.

also wondering what i would catch and what lures to use. i know the basics, eg. blades, soft plastics and diving minnows for bream and flathead.

would surface lures be any good in the river. i know that bream and whiting attack them but i have never tryed fishing with them.

any info would be apprieciated heaps.

thanks.

You will definantly get Black

You will definantly get Black Bream head up past the ski club and you will get to Honey Moon island some real nice areas up that way. A chance of Mulloway through that area as well. The bridge that you cross after turnoff to caravan park has rocks toward the mouth. Oyster Harbour which the Kalgan flows into has a lot of shallow flats with weed areas. Can get big sea mullet, gobbler and pretty much all ya estuarine fish. I use to catch/spear a kind of bream which were very blue (blue nosed bream?) at the Lower King bridge had a lot of fun that way as a kid catching herring, small salmon and my first mulloway. I'm no expert on lures but try and experimentwith different types, be the same as river fishing anywhere. That caravan park is very popular Enjoy ya time out

There's some Aboriginal fish traps made from rocks between the Lower King Bridge and the caravan park ya staying at on right hand side as ya heading east turnof at bottom of hill. worth a look and a fish there on high tide.

Mate paddle down to the

Mate paddle down to the channel downstream of the lower bridge just before it enters oyster harbour as Wes said. Fish that channel and associated flats with plastics or your preferred baits for KG's. You'll find other species in there but if you get onto whiting who cares!
Good luck
