A little light research yielded:

Wed, 2009-07-01 15:01

An Excerpt from an article:

"The footage was shot in northern Brazil, on a section of the Mequens
River inside the Porto Rolins Park, a protected conservation area where
fishing is banned (though driving a boat along and collecting the fish
as they jump in could well be construed as fishing). The fish are
matrinxa (brycon cephalus)
. "

And Another article explaining :

"….if you put a spotlight anywhere you’ll attract the insects to it as
most of us know, but if you add a spotlight at night, bouncing it over
the surface of water carrying many hungry fish (like bass that love to
leap ar large low flying insects) just beneath the surface and THEN
rat-a-tat-tat on the side of your boat to further enhance a feeding
frenzy (waking otherwise dozing fish) AND excite insects as well…..the
fish will really dance for you; and yes, literally leap into your boat
."

At any rate I was LMAO...

Thx for the work break :D

Oh and apperently they are used as a "marketplace" fish, but they dont keep too well...

New type of Fishwrecked clothing required

Wed, 2009-07-01 15:14

Protective clothing and head gear required. Not much else other than a spotlight and a tinnie. What a laugh LOL. I loved it when the fish struck him in the head later in the movie.

Thanks for sharing.Smile

In South Australia we used to spot light for garfish

Wed, 2009-07-01 15:48

It was great fun with a scoop net in 1 hand and a spotty in the other. Also used to get a lot of mullet, herring (tommy ruff) and squid.
