Port gregory is pretty dam

Port gregory is pretty dam good.

Head down the jetty and fish from there in the evenings for tailor, herring, school mackies at times.

Head right or north down the beach onto the sand flats and throw plastics aorund for flatties (there is tons in there)

Head left or south along the beach until just past where the reef almost meets the same (there is a small bay where the reef has big holes in it) which is awesome for big tailor (50+cm) and soapies, aswell as many darts and sharks do come in there too.

Can always venture to lucky bay if u have a 4WD too.

port gregory is probably more beach/reef where as kalbarri you will mostly fish off the rocks apart from wittecara and north of the river if you can venture across. Rocks will probably open up a few more possibilities fish wise but it just depends on what gear you have and what sort of fishing you like. also the murchison is not bad fishing as a back up if the winds up.

hey mate kalbarri fishing

Mon, 2010-02-08 16:47

hey mate kalbarri fishing will be starting to pick up in a couple of months so might be a better bet to head to port gregory but if u wanna find out whats happening up there check out murchison boat hire online or pm tangles he's usually fishing most of the time up there. we headed up that way end of last year before the fishing picked up and there were heaps of smaller tailor around 40cm mark and couple of mulloway were picked up off the beaches in the morning and at sunset. the fishing of chinamans point wasnt up as there wasnt enough white water but usually starts to pick up around march and april so might be a bit early if u heading up there in a couple of weeks time. always sharks around frustration reef if ur keen on those too. if ur into boating defs give laurie at murchison boat hire a call.

lurcha is right. u need a little dinghy to access frustration reef at kalbarri but right now the boat fishing has been better than shore based for whatever reason. last i heard a couple of weeks ago was that they been hitting some nice yellowfins on the troll up that way.
