Sambo Jigging
Submitted by BigSpinna on Thu, 2012-05-10 16:34
Hey lads
Just got back from a recent trip to exmouth, did a bit of bottom jigging with octojigs man they catch fish! But anyway it refired my passion for jigging and i wanna head out from Perth with one of the charter mobs and do a day sambo jigging.
Can anyone give me 1st hand knowledge on a good charter to use and what is the best time of year over here to get stuck into a monster sambo?
Also if anyone is keen for some jiggin, has a boat and experiance with finding Sambos and could use some fuel payed for let me know.
Cheers for any info
Chris

october is best not xmas
xmas they start moving out and the sharks start being an issue october is best because they are moving in to breed and feed thats my opinion.
craig from saltwater charters is the best, great crew great feed go during the week when theres less people that goes for any charter
i need a cheaper hobby

More importantly is that you
More importantly is that you caught fish on octo jigs! You mean like an octosniper? I've still never seen anything caught on one! (by the way I'm not including Lucanas jigs)
But yeah October onwards for sambos
When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

+1 for salt water charters,
+1 for salt water charters, early on in the season when they start shallow would be best IMO cause there are hardly/none sharks around, once they head deep sharks are all over them
hopfuly its a cracker season
good luck

anyone on your gps ;)the new
anyone on your gps ;)
the new charts have most of them.
basicly barge/containers/derwent and all in between.
mate ive been fishing em for a few years and still dont know exactly what they are called, found a few on some random site, forget what its called now (and my gps sh$t itself recently).
every wreck actually has a name but i just go from one to the other and have a few drops.
theres more than a few out there.
always boats rec and charter on them, anywhere from 80m to 190m.
good to check em out when the fads are out there makes a full day.
if my gps that crapped itself comes back fixed or the points are downloaded off of it i'll pm you all the co-ords, these are all common wrecks ect so i have no probs giving them out.
besides im not one of those keep it to myself fisherman as i dont have any killer dhuie or deep drop spots as yet, so nah your not out of line at all ;)
Here we go again.
