Saturday night funnys.

My cousin (David) and I went down to our local beach last night to soak a bait.

There was a dude already fishing so we decided to park up next to him in the gutter.

We rigged up and tossed a few baits out only to land a few undersixed tailor, which went back.

Half an hour later, a large group of at least 3 families pulled up the other side of this dude. We recognised each other from previous fishing trips and they came over and said hello.

A while later David and I watched this dude catch and dispatch an undersized mulloway, this thing was DEFINATELY undersized, no more than 400mm. This got our blood boiling. He soon after caught an undersized tailor. By tis time 2 of his mates and there girlfriends had walked down and joined him.

David and I decided we would try and report him, So I wondered back to the carpark and took pictures of his car and plates. I then walked down to the families the other side of him and we decided to go over and have a friendly word.

"How you going mate?" i said, "caught anything?".

"Yer," he boasted, "got a mulloway and a tailor."

"So you know what they are?" I asked, " so you know that there undersized?!?"

"Yer only a little." he quaffed.

"Wouldnt want to get caught!" we said.

"NA I WONT GET CAUGHT!" he laughed.

As he said this I was about to take my camera out and ask him to hold it up, when out of the corner of my eye I spotted 2 lights coming down the beach. Now I knew they werent 4wds, as there is no access and they are not allowd.

YOU BEAUTY!!!!!!!!!

David and I couldnt stop smiling as the fisheries threw the dead fish back into the water and pulled the book out.

Best fishing day ever!!!!!!!!!!

btw. we didnt catch fuk all.

hhaha i love it! was at the narrows at the start of the week, and noticed a few people pulling in and keeping undersized tailor. was gonna go and talk to them, but i saw two fisheries blokes walking up. i just smiled inside so much. had a quick word and pointed out the offenders. an hour later, they left, along with most of the culprits. one guy stuck around for a bit longer, got another undersized tailor and buggered off. lol. anyone know what the fines are like for that sorta stuff?

Shouldn't the fisheries officers keep the fish for evidence in court?

Dunno. But the fisheries

Dunno. But the fisheries spoke to my family mates after busting the dudes (they were working there way up the beach). Just after the fisheries and the bloke left, they came down to us and they were laughing and said the fisheries wouldnt say the exact fine but said it was expensive.

good news

Sun, 2011-01-02 14:05

it is always good to hear of them ppl gettin caught! i think it would be a bad conversion rate tho of offenders getting away with it vs the ones getting caught! but anyone caught doing the wrong is a good thing for us fishers! have noticed there presence since the ban lifted a whole lot more here in gero! good to see and hope it keeps up not just a passing phase!

pity we cant take the law into our own hands

Sun, 2011-01-02 15:10

You always see people taking undersized fish like this guy last night unfortunately he cut the soapys throat before it was taken off the hooks. It was only by chance the fisheries showed up but there is many occasions when they are not around. I have had many an argument with people taking undersized fish would have loved to hit many of them but then i would be the one in trouble. On one occasion a mate and i were chased off the ammo jetty by 3 guys holding knives after my mate tried to tip there bucket full of undersized tailor back in and they wouldnt let him so 2 of there tackle boxes went in instead. Where were fisheries that night when just about every ignorant prick was keeping undersized fish. All we could do is terrorize most of them but we had no real power to enforce anything. It made my year though to see someone finally get what they deserve.

Yer I think everyone on this forum has a story of people taking undersize fish, Seen it more than id like to in my life time. There are the random cases of people not having a clue, but in this case he knew exactly what he was doing and that is what makes this story oh so sweet!!!!!!!
