Video - Festival of Speed 2010

Last sunday as most would've seen through the media was the Festival of Speed held at Wanneroo Raceway, i spent most of the day helping dad who was organising the 32 car clubs in the display area, and did some commentating on the day for the classic race cars.

Despite all the traffic issues, that everyone already knew existed at the place, it was one of the best car shows i've been to!! Some guys giving out some absolute stick to some awesome machines, bloody good on them for making it happen, because even tho the infrastructure lets us down, the alternative is not to have them, and if you get there, it's an amazing day!! To see and hear an F1 car gving it heaps around wanner's was frikking unreal, and the sound that thing made.... nuts...

Anyway, i did some filming while i was up there, getting to learn my new cam, getting some decent shots of great cars too! No music with this one, just the pick of the sequences throughout the day, and symphony of horsepower!!!

Turn it up!!

getting the bottom line final answer from a bunch of blokes that use false names and put smiley faces at the end of paragraphs is not the best place in the world to get the information you seek.

It was good to see what else happened on the day !

I was solely concentrating on Webber and Ricciardo the whole day, so only ventured onto the track during the 3 runs, otherwise was in the Red Bull garage.

There was no intention by either driver or the team to attempt to break the lap record, as the car is basically now only a demo unit which travels the world doing events such as this plus special Red Bull promo stuff.

Speaking with the Red Bull engineers they were a bit concerned what might happen when Webber finally did the full track run, coming up over the rise heading into Ford corner as the aero dynamics had not been setup.

It was interesting to see how much dry ice was used during the day.. prior to each run - either side of the radiators there are dedicated baskets to hold the dry ice, plus a bucket load is also added to the floor pan around the radiators..

The engine was also hit with a fire extinguisher at the end of each run to rapidly cool it down.

The sound of the F1 on track was amazing, but to hear it (very) close up in the garage (tent) was something else !!
