after i got them i spoke to
after i got them i spoke to commorode marine.
basically you need a fully flat area to mountht hem on the hull where they fit, mine isnt straight therefor wont fit, which is a shame as they are a sensational trim tab from all reports

Why wouldn't you spacer
Why wouldn't you spacer them. Or better still make a small wedge to fit the hull that is curved to suit the hull and flat for the tabs.
Thats simple really??

Actually Matt on second
Actually Matt on second thoughts thats rediculous. All trim tabs must be fitted to a flat surface so any brand you buy you will have to make up spacers to suit. Honestly i'd be getting them fitted. If you need help give me a shout and i'll out you onto the right people.

QL Trim System
HI Guys,
Rod P is right... there are not many boats that this awesome system won't fit.
They have been installed on everything from 5m runabouts to 70' Flybridge cruisers so let me know your boat type "mako magic" and or better yet a photo of the transom and I will comfrim if they can be fitted.
Commadore are corect the transom needs to be flat but Rod P is spot on... fit a shim if there is curve in the transom. It aint very hard.
This system eats any other trim type on the planet and I'm sure you won't be disapointed if you fit them.

Really its that easy you
Really its that easy you could even spacer the bolts out with washers. Then just bung sicker flex in the whole if you wanted to do it easily.
( I'm thinking there are 4 bolts across the plate from memory so that's the only reason i think washers will be okay)
Ring Combined Marine on 9300 3100. They are just up the road from me here and they fitted the last lot i supplied to my neighbors trailcraft..
OH and it goes with out saying. "Öffcoasre Rod was right"

next time i pop down to the
next time i pop down to the boat i will look at what you just said Rod, from memory it might only need to be spaced about 4 or 5mm max on each end, which i assume would be ok?

Make em fit
Hi mako,
sorry I disapeared... forgot the password etc. as I'm new to the site.
Yes I am involved with QL and the shim is the most effective way to fit these to a curved transom.
what is brand of hull?
I'm afraid this time Rod is wrong... you cant just add washers under it or a heap of sika... but at least you're on the right track!
all the best till later.

What about a 6 or 8 mm
What about a 6 or 8 mm piece (depending on how much of a curve you have ) plastic / polycarbonate type material. Flat on one side, shape to the size of the trim tabs and then just shave the unwanted surface with either a plan or something similar and you will have the shape.
I would suggest the material you use would have to be very strong though. I would also make it as thin as possible.
Now that's how i would have done it.
Is that better biggun?

How about casting fibreglass
How about casting fibreglass in-situ? That would be easy to reinforce and plenty tough.

Shim process
Hi Guys, both Till and Rod P are right here.
I am assuming the allrounder is a glass boat? or is she Ally. there are many boats called "allrounder" but the one I'm thinking of is the "hydrofield" type tri-hull... yes or no?
If its glass then you could do as Till suggests but this is a long process working with glass, the poly shim is simple and very effective. Probably doesn't need to be as think as 8mm but it will depend on the curve of transom.
you could call me at work on 0407 761 674 if you like!
I think you were up sold on the BTS size though... this size boat will really only need the 300mm units but now you will have such responsive trim you won't know yourself!

if you look in my picture
if you look in my picture gallery mate theres a few pics of the boat, its a mono hull 670 commodore allrounder built here in wa, i might look at giving you a call when i get a chance and i will try tomorrow to go and get a pic early in the day and throw up here for you, will also throw a straight edge over it to see the ammount of spacing needed.
and yes the price i got these for was alottttttttttttt less than i would have been able to get the 300's for hense why i grabbed them

went down to take a pic but
went down to take a pic but unfortuantly the camera battery was flat, i worked out though that the spacing at each end will be only 3-4mm, so a minimal shim, how far from the edge of the boat would you put the tab? i was hoping to not have to shift both transducers, just the navman one in the pic on the far right, over to the left side of the boat?
sorry about the pic, was taken from the phone

Hey Mako do you think you
Hey Mako do you think you will be able to access the tabs from inside the well at rear of transom for the wiring, as i have the same boat as you, interested to see how you get on!

Sorry for delay.
I've been off on busines so it's a bit tough and delayed sometimes.
Yes if you shift the Navman transducer its fine.
I would sit it square over the lifting strake best place for sure.
is the 3-4mm over the entire 1/2 transom or not?
If it is over 1/2 transom, it's bearly worth worrying about. but I'd still recommend the shim for clarity.
As for Samo's question... it's a good point.
You may have to create access if there is not an open well to get through. thats' the next hurdle.

hey mate, thanks for the
hey mate, thanks for the reply, i shifted the navman tranny today, do both rim tabs have ample room each side.
the trim tabs once the hole is drilled to run the cable thru will sit flush then at each end of the tab that gap them will be 3 or 4 mm and same at the other end if you know what i mean.
as you said yes access is the next issue
