of having set hooks on cray pot ropes ?
Ok, so went for a dive today, and found these 2 hanging off a rope snagged on the bottom(which looked like a cray rope). No pot and no float. This was in 14m of water 6km from Hillarys.

The view expressed in this post is that of a self opinionated bullshitter and does not reflect that of this website, it's owners, mediators, other members or anyone else for that matter :-P

Even if it wasn't.
Would it really make you feel better for someone getting a hook through their hand, dropping the rope and it tears chunks off them?
I know stealing pots is shit house but is this the right way to go eye for an eye?
Dive and catch them if they are this important to you.

Different to how it sounded at the start
Glad you aren't booby trapping stuff. Personally, no idea what that would be for.

good luck with that
Fisheries pull pots all the time to check escape gaps and also snagged/left overs after season. Legally.
I cant imagine them seeing that point of view somehow

illegal
if your talking about splicing them into the line, i was told by a copper it would be classified as a man trap and if caught you would be prosecuted

Hi Ya,
Very, very hard to prove though. They were put there with the intention of catching fish, not people. Prove otherwise.
Cheers.

I they have been put there to catch fish.
They would still be illegal.

Illegal
A few years back it was legal for pros to set them on their pot floats but as soon as the law came in making crayfishermen catch only crays they were banned.
With them being on mono line and not wire trace then they are off a drop line that has got snagged up and snapped off

Plus the fact that set lines
Plus the fact that set lines for ammos have been banned for over ten years at least. wether its setting a shark line or clipping off to cray pots, all lines must be attended to.
