Whats your favourite type of Fishing?

Out of all the fishing I've done, the most enjoyable fishing would probably hard body fishing, i went out yesterday with a mate did some sp jigging and trolling but the most fun we had that day is when we stopped by carnack(probably spelt wrong) and we seen some baitfish getting smashed by something, so we pulled out the tiny bream rods and casted some lures at the baitfish, cant beat the fight on a 2ld rod haha got some nice tailor and herring on the hardbodies

cast after cast, cant get better than that, mate enjoyed it as well as he is from england he hasn't done much fishing, now he is hooked ^^

Whats your favourite type of fishing?

Gotta agree with cudbfishn.

Sat, 2011-03-05 20:49

Gotta agree with cudbfishn. Big bait out from the surf, a fair bit of waiting but the time can be easily killed with some bait fishing and a couple of beers. When the action finally starts and you hear the drag sing it really gets the blood pumping. Something about big fish from the shore, just seems twice as rewarding as the same fish from a boat.

Having said that, love using lures or plastics especially on lite gear but never seeems to get quite as much adrenalin pumping

Line in the water

Sat, 2011-03-05 21:54

Just having a line in the water is enough, don't fuss too much if I don't get a fish to take home.

If it came to a choice, flicking metals for salmon on light gear.

Anything and everything

Just about done it. Bream on lures, Surf, BB, plastics, jigs, fly, sight casting, both lures and fly, trolling, whiting in close.... ahhh shit!!! As long as there's a line in the drinks I am as happy as a pig in mud (but no other noise, ie no radio etc, just mother nature's noises). First fish on fly (humble herring) was memorable.

love it all

I really enjoy catching fish without bait and using a lure to fool them.

But the biggest buzz/thrill is catching fish on flies that I have personally tied. For me, thats a whole other level. The ultimate in fly would be a marlin/sail......one day!

If the humble herring on fly buzzed me, can you just imagine what a saily would do!!

That might surely make me change my mind. Havent specifically targetted sails up here on fly, but have seen the odd one come up in the spread looking at the teasers. Not targetting them as I mostly use lures rather than bait, pushers, but thinking about that might just take the 12wt with a large SW clouser in white and blue, and have it ready. Troutsky on fly is also a buzz, but havent cracked a bigun yet. Bloody hard on fly to stop them reefing you, but fun!!!

Ahh.... I still like all fishing aslong as I am out there.

Fishing the southern rocks

Sun, 2011-03-06 11:17

Fishing the southern rocks for unstoppables probably gets me revved up the most...the crisp air, pounding wash, watching the whales swimming past, tuna erupting or samson's spearing out the water chasing mulies...love it!

Sight fishing with artificials anywhere, from the Rockingham flats to the local metro ponds, southern estuary sandflats to trouting the streams, norwest offshore sand quays to spiining the oil/gas rig pylons...just watching a fish inhale something you made or tied gives me wood.

But for some reason my most pleasurable fishing is hunting big bream in the Murchison, don't know exactly why...maybe its the scenery, weather, beverage in my hands, soliltude, the town...I don't know why but it recharges the batteries brilliantly.

Great topic, out of the ordinary!

Lure fishing for salmon off

Sun, 2011-03-06 14:37

Lure fishing for salmon off the rocks. I love it, cant beat sight casting to salmon a couple metres out from the rocks then having the extra challenge of actually landing it. I was fishing yesterday when a school of 2kg fish came through yesterday and I caught one on a crystal minnow, good fun on the bream flicky! The school then busted up bout 100m away for 30secs on small baitfish, it was insane, the bust-up was probly bout 50mx50m

Two can fishing.

Sun, 2011-03-06 14:48

Forgot about "Two Can Fishing". Years back on a trip to Gnaraloo the swell came right up and stopped all boat fishing for the whole fortnight. For something to do we invented Two Can Fishing, have a full unopened can in you shorts pocket and an opened one in you top pocket as you walk along flicking small lures about, when you have finished the open can swap it for the full one and start flicking your way back to the esky.

When you arrive at the esky, drink another can then reload with two more cans and head off in the other direction.

Got heaps of small nor westers, spanglies and long toms but because your hands and pockets were full it was all catch and release.
