Got a friend who's got a large one that he'll be happy to sell. What length and how many rods  need to be carried?

thanks kknlk.  It would need to be able to extend to 6'6" approx.  Only needs to hold 5 or 6 rods.  If you could let me know what brand and model that would be great

As checked baggage

Load your rods into PVC stormwater pipe with screw on end caps... it  will survive airport baggage handling systems and  general baggage handling/loading etc.  suggest keep it in 2 metre lengths ... relatively cheap too

stormwater pipe is a bit brittle for airline transport.  I have a few of these for general 4x4 storage and a few swlab padded bags as well but want some thing stronger if I can find it

Not cheap but you can use

Not cheap but you can use pvc pressure pipe instead of storm water. Avail to class 18 and 300mm diam. Somewhere in between storm and pressure is DWV as this is non pressure. It's thicker than stormwater but thinner than pressure and costs about 1/3 of pressure and 30% more than storm. If you check on gumtree sometimes someone will let go excess cheap. Then get fittings only. Found a very cheap supplier in Welshpool

buy either of the pipes mentioned and then buy yourself a surfboard bag.......thats what i do.....you could put two tubes inside that....then  you have the padding of the surfboard bag as well.....keep it cheap......it goes through as one piece of extra luggage regardless.
