yeah mate plenty of barramundi get caught at those two locations when the water warms up a bit. It's a bit cool at the moment, but there's been a bit of rain so you'll probably be able to get some estuary perch and yellowbelly. Probably wanna use some reasonably heavy gear at Bibra Lake though, at least 30 lb braid with a 40-50lb leader, as there's some rouge murray cods hanging around under the jetty that will smoke you pretty quickly if you're undergunned. I recomend a 5 inch frog and eel style soft plastics, rigged unweighted. Halco roosta poppers can also work. Good luck! Oh and don't forrget the gaff!

Here we go again.

Young, keen bloke trying to get as much info as he can, and the peanut gallery has to come through with the usual smart-arse replies. And I'll be the first to admit that I've done it too. But just like all the "why did you kill it if you don't know what it is" stuff, it's become boring and clichéd so how about trying to help the kid rather than try to be a hero by belittling him?

 C'mon oz, enoughs enough.

C'mon oz, enoughs enough. I'm all for encouraging the young fella for his exuberance, but maybe if he concentrated on areas that are known to hold fish ie: the river or ocean ( not the puddle at the local Kmart parking lot) his chances of catching fish might multiply tenfold.

Ps. STDs taste best eaten raw with a dash of salt and pepper

We all should remember these young kids are the future of our fishing. By encouraging them and providing them with good info (not your favourite dhuie spot)we can demonstrate to them how fishing is also about helping people stating out in this great recreational activity of ours and it's part of being a mate.

Yes there is a place for our Aussie humour for that is what makes up part of our cultural character.

Just as an add on a couple of years back I saw a couple of young blokes (12-14 yrs old) in the rocky shopping centre car park with a couple of dam good size black bream. The fish were still kicking, upon asking were they got the bream from I was informed that they had caught them in the drainage system that flows through from the lake at Rockingham to the outlet at mangles bay. So it's amazing were some fish will survive and grow.

Looks like some people favourite fishing style is trolling. But have heard that Lake Coogee does have bream in it, even though your not allowed to fish it due to the treated waste water is dumped in it from the sewerage plant.

Lake Coogee looks pretty

Lake Coogee looks pretty sterile when ive walked past. Is that from the treated waste water? I'd be interested to know if there is fish in it for the kids to have a bit of fun. No eating of course.
