Fat fish / Fat angler

Great conditions but not too many fish landed.

A couple of tussles with some xos bronzies which bit us off boatside, but other than that a very uneventful day on the water.

Very chunky

However we met up with Wangler from FW at the boat ramp and he reckoned he released one twice this size earlier on the day after an all nighter out deep.

I'm glad we kept this one as the Dhuies just didn't play ball yesterday. I tagged one at 36cm and had one jump off the hooks while I was doing the decompression stop. Just as it de-gassed itself it started to float then one kick and it was back down. Estimated to be around 50 - 60cm so would have been a reasonable feed, but lived to be caught another day.

Just goes to show that the deco stop works well and helps avoid barotrauma. Just a shame my hooks didn't hold on that one, never mind, though it had of been a 10kg plus model I would more than a little annoyed.

I'm tipping that if you were intending on keeping an estimated 10kg model for a feed you wouldn't be risking a deco stop Andy.
