Has he got his skippers
Has he got his skippers ticket as he dosn't look to be able to see were he's going. you may have to raise the seats a bit .I let Jesse drive the boat and log in and out for the day he's still got to tackle the banks when braking ,but if anything should happen to me on a trip its up to Jess to get help or get me home .He is a good little skipper and i would trust him to get me home in most conditions.

True
He is only five and asks every day if we are goin fishing.
He comes out in the sound when ever we go. It is definatley a good idea to have another person on the boat who has an idea of how to handle ya boat if things turn ugly for the skipper.
Fishing isn't a matter of life or death, it's much more serious than that!!!

i think
all that go on a boat should know the basics of radio use, flares(god forbid if need arises),how to handle the boat, basic navigation, docking (if not how to run the boat onto the beech)
.
teach them young and they will learn quicker as kids always do with technology these days
he looks right at home at the helm
