10 Owner Split, Owner Crane Swivel, Flemish Loop, Crimped 240lb twisted leader (120 x 2).
Kasey or Jay, this is how I'm rigging the dumbbells, any thoughts? Is there a better way?

That looks good. Not quite sure how you do a Flemish eye with twisted leader being so thick (I don't worry about it) but I'm sure it does no harm.
An idea that you might incorporate is to double the leader back up another 10 inches or so, providing a 'bite' leader. A little extra protection for teeth, gill plates, scutes, whatever. I'll put up a pic in a tic. Just means you twist the end of the leader back around the mainline (fiddle with it so it lays nicely and braids as one) then crimp the top of it, maybe twice to be sure. I use nail knots instead of crimp, as shown by Che Carson, who a fair bit of credit for twisted leaders should go to.
One of the first instructions to tie twisties as I know them no, featuring Che and Hal, way back in... 2005.

another way
actually, since you're using crimps, theres another method that I think is drawn from instructions given by Kozo Okubo (hammerhead and smith tester).It's similar, just modified, and is as good, but requires less time. i'll draw it up too.

Looks good. Personally I don't bother with anything that fancy. Just twisted leader to swivel then about 3ft of 130lb mono single strand to lure. I tie the lures on using a loop (not sure the name of it). No crimps, I keep it as simple as possible. Have caught quite a few GT's on this setup and hasn't failed me yet.
Not knocking your setup though. Only query I'd have would be ths size of the swivel? I might be wrong but it looks a tad small. I use 3/0's - have had smaller swivels broken on fish boatside when attached to the lure like that. From Cairns GBR

Cheers Steve, can't recall the exact size but its the same size as I have used jigging for sambo's on PE 8 with no problems.
How are you connecting your twisted leader to the swivel?

I just tie the twisted
I just tie the twisted leader to the swivel using either a uni knot or a locked half blood knot.
I use a Calstar GF700H too.... love it!

G'day big john that looks good.. it's exactly the same way I'm rigging them at the moment with the crimp being a quick and easier alternative to nail knotting, albeit a bit more chunky.
We did try some twistys with a couple of nail knots and heat shrinked to keep them neat but it was a fair bit more time consuming so we've stuck with the crimps so far. Haven't had one fail.
G'day Steve I don't like the idea of Uni knotting a 130lb twisty to a swivel as it's pretty difficult to tye in such thick mono... hence the reason to go a bit fancy to make it easier.
What size twistys are you using? 130lb single strand to lure is far too light for the ground/fish we're fishing for up here.

I use 80lb twisted leader
I use 80lb twisted leader and 130lb mono at the end. Works fine where I'm fishing and has been tested a couple of times (dragged across the reef) - been lucky so far. Mostly I'm not fishing the really shallow stuff anymore though. Usually between 20ft and 50ft.
I don't find it at all difficult to tie two strands of 80 in a locked half blood knot on a 3/0 swivel. Spose 130lb doubled would be a bit difficult. Keep it simple I reckon. That heat shrink idea is just asking for trouble IMO.
Jay have you managed to get a decent one in the boat yet? They'll start coming easier after the first couple, you'll wander what all the fuss was about.

Nah haven't got a decent one in the boat yet, a few small ones but nothing I would call a 'Giant' Trevally. Last trip out was very quiet and the trip before that we had a couple of awesome bust offs from some BIG GT's in water a couple of metres deep.
