Yep it's a Lead head. The other guy with me was using one as well & had just put a nice Rankin in the kill tank before taking this pic. Usually I have the Jig a couple of metres off the bottom just using the rod to jig. Lot of times get nailed whilst winding up to do another drift.

They kill it

They can be really effective , I like a longer tail with an extra hook in the back of the skirt (like the one in my avatar). No such thing as a timid bite they generally get monstered , very easy way to rig for reef species.

Rigging

Mate I make up 150 lb mono traces with a chafe protected loop at one end which is where your main line clips on and on the other end a chafe protected loop to a substantial clip swivel that you clip on to your jig. You can always go for wind ons and other stuff if you like but I find this way strong and simple and it works for me.

Thanks mate, I've seen these chafe protected loops before, can you just buy them in a packet from most tackle shops?

Line Protectors

Yeh you can Jay. You can either buy the clear plastic protectors, the metal nimbles or the green coiled wire. Don't know the proper names for them so thats about the best I can do. I prefer the clear plastic protectors for rigging.

As well as giving you more protection I reckon they make your rigs look alot neater.
