Scott you going deep for these fat suckers? I'd like to find some myself but dont know where to start? 20m? 30m+? Do you look for weed on the sounder or fish the outside of patches of reef. Those are some ripsnorters you got there mate!

out from point peron you just look for a bit of broken ground with a bit of flair / weed showing, you dont need any reef or anything around the best spots i have are just hard flat bottom in the middle of nothing you can start around the 32m mark there is alot of ground just west of the northen tip of garden island

Have always caught them as a random bycatch with the heavy gear .. could you suggest a dedicated rig ? was thinking around 12lb fluro leader,  paternoster with 2 droppers using 2/0 or 3/0 circles with squid I guess . Which was hoping would suffice for skippy as well ... Nice bag , well done .

but i snell 2 hooks about 5cm appart then use a thin strip of squid or skinned occy leg, i use 25lb at the moment as that way the dhuies bust you off pretty quick but when the bans not on i will use 40/60lb as u will catch a lot of good dhuies on the same sort of ground at certain times of the year

Thanks for that mate! Planning to do some trolling out from the north end some time soon so I'll keep an eye out for that ground.
