Finding the schools of them and sightcasting at them is best beau. They are much more agressive when they are in big numbers. The plastic will often get eaten as it sinks or just a small lift and fall retrieve but if you cast to a big pack of them there is a good chance of a hookup. The scents possibly help but I think it's more a visual thing.

But I found these fish in deeper water. The poppers seem to work best in really shallow water.
