Not a bad size, they grow up

Mon, 2009-07-06 21:53

Not a bad size, they grow up to about 50lb in the UK but not many places where they are and they are unaccessible to most people.  I try to aim for 20lb + so this size is pretty good.

Mon, 2009-07-06 22:17

But it certainley is very different kind of fishing! I rekon you'll love the fishing over here, even with the ocean experiance you already have. By the way - thanks for all the posts from the UK it's good seeing what the rest of the world get up to.

Mon, 2009-07-06 22:46

Are they good eating or are they rubbish bin material?
Either way they look like giving you a run for your money when they're that big.
Good one Rog

I used to catch big carp in Japan when I was a kid.  Just threw out some old bread, then waited for them to eat the one with the hook in it.

I also caught a good sized one at Golden Ponds.  It took some line off the reel.

The reel is a shimano 10000

The reel is a shimano 10000 XTE and the rod is a 2.5lb test curve normark. A fairly soft rod for the job enhances the fight.  The reel is awesome!
