What a ripper of a blue

Sun, 2018-02-18 17:37

Did you specifically target blues or was it a chance encounter, and if you don't mind me asking at what depth did you get it.
Very well done, and in such tough conditions on the water LOL

I find there is a difference

Mon, 2018-02-19 19:26

I find there is a difference in their flesh if caught north of say Lancelin compared to down south with the northern flesh being a bit firmer

The fillets off a 16kg Blue I got down Augusta couple of weeks is absolutely delicious with excellent fat content keeping it super juicy once cooked

all that goes to waste on our Blue's are the tail and guts.

Head made into soup after cheeks taken out

carcass chucked on the BBQ is a meal in itself for a family of 4

the wings and belly flaps are magnificent cooked in the oven

and of course the fillets feed the whole extended family

thats what I call respecting the fish

Is mully( fish eating). As you say everyone's taste different. I just cooked my missus up some. Andy fish (gluten free ) coconut flour batter. Absolutely brilliant.also made fish cakes out of wings . They turned out mint. Nothing wasted .
