My first GT

My first GT

 1st day fishing at dampier.

If anyone says you need thousands of dollars of gear to catch one ignore them and buy what you can afford.

It will do. Mine did.

Make sure of your knots though and terminal tackle and rub some deep heat on your back the night before... in preparation.

They are fair dinkum brutes!

Can only compare the feeling to making your first ton in cricket.

He took a halco laser pro

He took a halco laser pro 160 chrome pink that hooked a just undersize coral trout a cpl of hours earlier then was lost to a hungry mackie but then  bobbed up and was found floating with about 2 inches of leader cleanly snipped by his teeth lol!

I put a trace on and rigged it up again then immediately hooked up a 70cm mackie (maybe the culprit?

The whole setup is not meant for gt's obviously but it did the job... eventually.

The rod is a shimano 3 zero topend  5-10kg line 10 -35 gm lureweight (lol i know )

The reel is a Shimano Stradic Ci4+ 4000xg fb spooled with 15 lb daiwa j braid x8 chart.

Setup recommended by a fishing guru friend of mine!
