my new gear

i decided to buy some new bream gear after the comp due to my penn combo not machin the rest of you guys stuff, so i bought a daiwa regal 2500Xi reel spooled with 6lb sufix super thin fluro braid, matched to a penn pinpoint tournament 7' 3-6kg full graf rod.

Pinpoint

Them pinpoints are good rods , been looking at one myself, I got a dropshot for my young bloke to put his 1500 Ultegra on .

Gettin' ready for the murry cod season , hope to tangle with one of the big 8 kilo Yella bellies this time as well so I need a good soft plastic rod .

that really depends on the

that really depends on the braid but when you're talking most good braids now.. you're talking micro dyneema strands... = mega strong...

afterall, its all personal preference... but I prefer braid, especially when breaming for 2 reasons, it doesnt stretch, which means less chance of the fish busting me off on a snag and also because braid is much more sensitive, you can feel everything far better than with mono. Also, braid is almost twice as thin as mono... eg 4lb fireline has a diameter of 1.3mm vs mono which is usually around 2.1-2.3mm

this means more line can be used on the spool and in this case, 2.3mm braid is usually between 12-15lbs which means, for that diameter, its breaking strain is almost 3x more than mono!

Also, braid doesnt have the same memory as mono, which means, it can be used far more and when under tension, will not bend out of shape...

But yeah, each to your own :)
