But are you sure you can fit under the canopy?

You aren't called "little" john after all.

Nice upgrade John. Looks nice for cruisin around up north.

How big is it. Looks like you went over 6m.

Perfect fit

Thu, 2007-11-01 19:47

It's a big fella's size boat Andy.

12 month old 6.1m plate hull & trailer with a 2002 Mercury 150V6. Outboard soon to be replaced with a Suzuki 140 or 150. Still tossing up on the motor at this stage as there's a decent price difference between them.

At this stage can't find a Furuno 585 for love or money. Taylor Marine already has 40 on back order.

Might have to go offshore for one.

Only one thing missing

Thu, 2007-11-01 19:53

A nice big Fishwrecked sticker.

Certainly looks like a great rig John. What sort of range will it have with a 140 on the back? I assume it has a fair bit of fuel load capacity given the size. Peak Island here he comes!!!

You must be happy as a pig in sh1t, .....or maybe even as happy as a pig in a pig.

200L

Thu, 2007-11-01 20:04

Got a 200L tank Andy. Will have a good range but more importantly my fuel bill will be manageable. I don't imagine ULP is too cheap in Onslow.

Very happy Andy. Best thing is it's only had the basic's done to it so i've plenty of scope for fitting it out how I like.

4 stroke

Thu, 2007-11-01 20:10

A nice 4 banger will move that along nicely and quietly. Biggest thing I've noticed being on a mates 4 stroke is the stealth mode. The ability to move onto fish without them being much the wiser is such an advantage over the 2 stroke. Not to mention the fuel bill, $1.58 up here at the moment. :(

John, I've got 205 litres

Thu, 2007-11-01 20:17

John,

I've got 205 litres capacity in my boat, 6.5m Whitley glass boat and my new Suzuki 140 4 stroke is good but the 150 or 175 would be sweet. unfortunately the bigger motors were'nt available at the time so i went the 140.

It's economical and has enough lift but the extra would be good, If you plan on keeping the boat then go the 150 mate. I've done 720 hours in under 2 years so i'm using all them hours as an excuse to up grade the donk hp late next year!

Sounder

Thu, 2007-11-01 20:53

John - You tried Marine Electrical @ Instrument Services in Mandurah. (Simon 9534 6210).

He still had some 620's at boat show prices a bit over a week ago. Not sure on 585's tho. Worth a shot.

Bottom sheets meet the sides

Fri, 2007-11-02 18:50

Dean,

Just before outer edges of the bottom sheets meets the sides, the sheets are turned back down at about a 20 degree angle. This has the effect of helping with lift and throwing any spray produced during travel back down onto the surface of the water.

Tim I forgot to ring that Mandurah mob today. I'll give them a call tomorrow morning. At this stage I'm also waiting on a freight price from the US. looks like I might be able to get the sounder and 1kw transducer landed here for about $2100.
