No luck fishing today!

No luck fishing today!

Hi guys! Headed out this morning around 8am. The swell was up and its the first time i have seen waves on the verge of breaking in the channel going out thru 3 mile. Headed out to the 40s to see if Claire couldnt catch me another baldie. But with the eastly blowing its ring out and current going all over the show, made for some lumpy seas, and the fish didnt want to play.

Managed a few whiting and a heap of just under size pink snapper for the day!  Headed in towards Scarbs at around 12pm and the wind started to drop off

. I was doing about 25 knots, and all of a sudden i saw something in the water and hit the skids. There floating was a huge bit on timber that had come off a jetty somewhere. It was 8m long and about 30cm thick.....she would of stowed the front of the old trailcraft in for sure. As it was near the Centuar reef marker and heaps of people use that route to go to Rotto. I thought i should tell sea rescue, because i didnt want to watch the news tonight and find out someone had hit it.  They came out around 15 mins later and towed it back to shore.

Anyway you just never know what a day on the water will bring, thankfully we didnt have to swim home!

That blustery easterly at between 6-10am was not forecasted. The never fail Baldie spot failed ya.....mo-jo perhaps ha ha

That current plays havock on the bottom fish. Good onya for getting rid of the floater.....would be disaster at speed and with more chop it would of been very hard to see!

Sorry to to hear that there was no fish and good on ya for doing the right thing.

When we use to have to sit a licence for the VHF radio they would teach people to call a warning via a Se-cur-ity radio call as well.

Once again good work you may have saved someones life and major damage.

By the way its blowing big time here as well between Newman and Headland.

Excellent for finding the floater

club members have brought in some decent pieces of wood that could pierce a fibreglass or ali boat.  We had a Friend that unfortunately hit a floating plank and they did their prop in had to be towed home by Sea Rescue.

sorry you couldnt outfish clair again but at least she didnt out fish youLaughing. good job spotting the log, always on the lookout for stuff like that and we have put a few calls through to sea rescue and taken some driftwood in as well, makes you wonder how much stuff is floating on or just below the surface

Good to see the community spirit at play. That could really have done some damage.
