Out Yesterday

Out Yesterday

Mrs D and I went out yesterday, after an uneventful trip the previous day as well. Time to go boat fishing is quickly diminishing with silly season family obligations.

Conditions were far from ideal yesterday with considerable wind gusts changing from NW, WNW, NW, W, SW and finally SSW. It was very hard to find shelter.

We did manage a quick few drifts over a spot we had noted on a previous trip - with the sounder showing very impressive structure. One that, no doubt, had been passed over by a LOT of boats, but I suspected never hit due to close proximity.

In 12 drops (6 drifts) we picked up 2 Morwhong, a few pinkies (JUST size - so they went back!) and 2 suspected Dhui hits - nothing confirmed unfortunately.

Sure was nice to to christen the new Diawa Sealine LD30 II OHs. Lovelly to use.

Here's a pic of the Blue Morwhong kept - went 5.0Kg.

Thanks Ray!

Yeah, they sure are fun to catch - this one took a bit of line initially - but was up fairly quickly none the less. Petty they are not the best table fish - even when icky'ed and bled. Still doesn't beat the horse I caught when I first came down - THAT gave me some curry! I'll post a pic of that one shortly.

Good one Colin. Sometimes the gass is greener closer to home, or something like that. Glad your new reel went well. That is always a good buzz. Great name mate

(Oh Dear )

Cheers Col - yeah, I've gone over this spot many times and never fished it. You know what it's like - no wind, no swell, full WOT, donk screeming it's box off, the whole Ocean pushing against your face, your heart  thunder-pounding with excitement, bow wash lookin like twin tipped over geysers and all you can think of is getting out there.

Pays to check the ground you are passing over - takes 2 secs to lock a waypoint.
