Had Damo6230 and Matt

Wed, 2010-05-12 16:42

Had Damo6230 and Matt (Hlokk)drive down from Exmouth and meet me at Coral Bay where we then proceeded to Warroora Station to catch up with a couple of other Fishwrecked members. (Stoinka and Boonie) We got there about 3pm and proceeded to catch up the Aussie way, yep we got drunk. We were up bright and early the next morning for a quick fish. Damo, Stoinka, myself and another friend Kieren were in one boat and Matt was paired up with a friend Gary to go fly fishing.
We only intended to pop out for a couple of hours to catch some Red Emperor but nothing was biting so it was decided to throw some big pushers out and try for something decent. In less than 10 minutes we had a good Yellow Fin Tuna on board and all us boys high fiving. Out went the pushers again and 10 minutes later I watched a nice fish race to one lure then cross to a pink pakula and smash it. Yep! Sailfish time. Kieren took the strike and all crew on board just naturally pulled together to put in a team effort to get the fish to the boat, photograph it and see it released.
We then headed back in with every intension of sticking it into Matt and Gary only to find huge bait schools in the shallows with Matt hooked up on a Shark Mackie on fly. Another story hopefully Matt will tell.

Great way to see mates off as I head north.

That was a fantastic saily and the YFT was well over 10kg.
