Another evening Jewie bash

i rang up Jay late yesterday arvo and asked if he would be keen for a crack at some more jewie's. Once again it didn't really take much convincing. We hauled our asses up to the spot, this time a little more prepared, ie had the net this time and the braid scissors. We had some really good sized mullet which when filleted gave us some nice fat baits. After only about 5 minutes i had a nice run, and it stuck. At first i thought jewie, then Jay and i saw a big boil across the surface followed by a good barra jump, stoked. Jay grabbed the net and netted a nice barra off the rocks for me of around 77 - 78cm, caught on a piece of strip mullet. It was released.

A bonus barra while fishing for jewies
A bonus strip mullet caught barra and my first for the year, was released

Well not too long after that i got another good run, it seemed to be playing a lot more like a jewie. We had to chase it a little up the creek, jay did the work on the net again, thanks mate. Landed a nice little 80 odd cm Black Jew. Was pretty stoked, not bad for half an hour's fishing.

Jay wasn't having a great deal of luck, and in between those fish believe it or not things were actually pretty quiet.

another small jewie
The same Jewie again, i kept this one for a feed.

Well i got another smoking run after this. It went very very very! Hard. It stripped line off my bait caster like it was a whiting combo. Anyway, after a good couple of minutes it busted me off, spewin. Anyway things went quiet so we went home. Jay didn't see much action but overall the spot has produced some good fish on the two occasions we have been there, next time its your turn Jay.

Seeing those great pics and hearing your great yarns makes we want to jump off the Hillarys Breakwall.
But seriously, great stuff. What I should do is get off my butt and head up that way.

It's interesting how two

It's interesting how two people can fish side by side using the same technique and the results can vary so much.

Oh well I guess it's just the way the card falls. Was pretty pumped watching you land that barra, especially when it's unexpected, and that jewie run was pretty awesome, could hear the braid burnin' on the guides about 20m away. All that makes the effort worthwhile even though I didn't land a fish.

Bloody keen for this trip we talked about though brad, will get onto Glenn this arvo and see what he reckons.
