TRIM TABS

Finally got around to fitting new tabs to the boat, got sick of moving people and eskys around the boat to level it up. Mainly got them to take out list when on a side on sea, rides nice and level now in any conditions, Best $$ i have spent on the boat. Got them from the US and saved $$

Yep!

Yep i've been contemplating them since i purchased my vessel from new Jason and having mates that have them on their boats sold it to me. Also had a gut full of the same, moving people/iceboxs/dive tanks etc and leaning into the wind = boat bashing!

I've just put on the Bennits trim tab kit,i'll get out soon to test.....i'm sure you'll get max benefit!

They are Lencos, cost $820

They are Lencos, cost $820 delivered, I got the indicator swicth which shows the position of the tab with led ligths, costs a bit more but worth the extra $ as no guessing the position of the tabs. These are the ones Seafarer fit to there Vagabonds. Can't fit large ones on the transom because of the scallop shape. The Lencos are electric and the Bennets are hydroylic, I have heard good reports about the QL tabs from Volvo too, they are 300mm wide so you need the room on transom to fit them. they have no rams they have a blade that moves up and down vertically.

Agree!

Yes, agree, would like to look at Trim Tabs for our boat too - eventually. Still (with great respect guys!) think it's best (where ptractical) to balance the boat first. Laughing

Yes it is best to balance

Yes it is best to balance the boat first which I do, But when you have a side on sea which causes a list you tend to move gear and people to opposite side of the boat which makes the boat unbalanced, Most Glass deep vee boats 6m plus suffer more from list more than ally boats, most boats will tend to lean slightly port because of prop torque which tabs will fix. Most boat builders dont put them on as standard as it comes down to keeping costs down. Most of your imported yankie boats over 6m come standard with tabs.

i agree trim tabs are great,i have them on my 620 freedom sport, first time i have ever had them on a boat, this makes a joy when having uneven weight,we motored out in 23knot winds ,leveled up and away we went, the millenium hull and flared bow also help..
