Bluebone Session

Ok well this report is a little bit late i have been pretty busy organising things for next week and i let it slip my mind. Last weekend me and a mate decided to go for a little bluebone fish off Karratha. We set off at sparro's fart from back beach to beat the tide. It was still dark when we left and no moon meant we had to be carefull when approaching our spot. We anchored up and waited for the sun to greet us.

Early morning, beautiful...

We moved right into our possy on first light and straight away got stuck into a few pickers. Small bluebone were eating our baits as soon as it hit the water, very frustrating.

Small but a bluebone and what we were targeting afterall

We caught a few species, including an interesting lemon shark that would have gone about five feet long. Interesting on a crab bait. I tried a few of the peeler crabs Andy Mac loves so much, they were not lasting either, although small bluebone number two did fall victim, along with a few rock cod.

Finally after an hour or so of the Flood i got what i was after. A hefty tug o war began and thankfully this time i won. Not as big as the last couple we have got from this place, but pretty good. 61cm and certainly a wife pleaser

61cm and the first decent one landed for the day

We decided to call it quits after that, went crabbing for an hour or so before heading back to the ramp. Overall was a pretty relaxing day, and good to try a spot on a different part of the tide.

Yum!
