I like the sound of that !!! my son has a Durango combo !! or I could borrow my daughters pink one !!!! It would only cost ya the change in your pocket !! Got both combos with a matching tacklebox for $15each !!! Whos up for the challenge!!!!!!!! I'm sure I could find someone to throw in a prize!!!!
Best to keep it the same rod and reels too!!! my other pink combo wouldn't compete with a darango!!!!

don't know what the line class is but I hear what you say Kasey L ! they all come with the same line (mono)once you run out of line on your reel there will be no respooling ! Barbless hooks ! no more than 1m trace 20lb max ! Don't think anybody would go overboard on hook size ! maybe even make it plastics only ??? Have got a $50 voucher for the best fish from Ranger Camping and Outdoors in C'Vale for major prize (thanks:Hobie Bloke) if anybody can think of some other rules that need to apply I think it will be great fun for all when the Mackies and other fish are not on the bite ( can see a whole bunch of blokes on the beach with their PINK Durangos after we get back in from the serious stuff) NOW THERES A PHOTO!! they can be found in Ranger and almost all tackle stores (there about 5' ,2 piece and come in blue or PINK). got mine in CBF or something of that nature!!!!!!!!
once again can't wait to get there and meet you all !

only "pink rod" I use is the one my missus uses as well! Seriously, you'll get spooled probably or broken gear which equals fish swimming with line(mtrs) in it's gob with the rest of ya rig. Not very bright.

Perhaps, allowing respools of a specified line rating. Any brand as long as its mono and IGFA whatver rating. Or maybe a specific brand, just keep a 300 or 600m spool on deck.such
Only downside is that it could be a little irresponsible using light line, so dont go bottom bouncing with it guys (though pelagics and a manevourable boat may be acceptable ;) ).
Would love to join the trip, but i'm going away a week later so two trips close together probably not good for work (havent asked though).
Also, a little confusion. The durango looks like a spinning reel, but the reel STAAL LOVER was using looked like a centercast (or whatever they're called).
Some info i've found says the durango is 3-4kg which isnt super light, so might be ok for most fish (i.e might not loose line each cast then), just as long as the reel can stand up to the fight, hehe.
edit: knothome raised a good point. Maybe a specific knot (thats not a 90%+knot)b to swivel or clip of your choice so you keep the line if you get spooled.

the combo Staaly was using in that pic isnt a durango, and the comp is a top idea.
9 times out of 10 you wont get spooled if you lock it up, it will always break at the leader knot if you want it too.
Think real and keep it simple.

As for the other PINK combo hlokk was my daughters first (she could cast it before she was 2 a country mile)probably couldn't find them anymore anyway ! The durango would handle a"little"preasure . Great fun on the herring etc. and I think if you lost a spool of line then comp is over for you. Don't think, though not sure that anybody in their right mind would bottom bash with it ! But as I said a dozen or more (non gay) fellas trowing "softies" around on the flats would be very funny !

I think you guys without the pink rods are going to make it look like you're hiding something, lol.
So how are we going to work this comp guys? I think the best way would be to get photos and the best voted wins. Pink rod must be in the shot, maybe even as a ruler to gauge size. Taking photos would hopefully encourage some more catch and release and theres less focus on getting more cms or kgs, which would hopefully make it less serious as keeping with the theme
Though I doubt anyones taking it that seriously anyways (and i'm sure everyone would be sensible on what they target)
Only other thing would be to make sure you used the mono on the reel. Seems we are not going to allow respooling then?

Other stores may have it on special though, but make sure its got line on it (some take it off).
Squid jig and snapbacks I had before, but they matched the rod, so I put them in the photo (I think the squid jig cost more than the combo :p)

knothome: as long as its at onslow or surrounds, I dont think it matters too much. Just a bit of fun, not too many rules. Basically as long as its on the trip, and you use the original pink gear. Apart from using it responsibly, thats about it.
Good point on the barbless john. Guessing only carbon hooks too (not that S/S is used much other than trolling lures)

I think you guys should all fish from the same beack/rocks at the same time and take plenty of group shot photo's
This would also ensure that the fish was actually caught with the "PINK" combo.
