Wind?

Thought about going for a squid. Calm outside, the odd cloud about. Had a look on BOM 22-27 knots Garden Island SW
and 20+ SW at Rotto. How the hell can it be East 5 knots (melville water) where I live. Some things I cant get my head around.
Any intellectuals out there.......

I've seen it, more than once, at both Jurien and Mandurah, where there was a relatively strong easterly in the marina and roaring sea breeze just outside.

Hi Ya,
Can't give you an explanation for that, but a mate of mine who has done a lot of parachute jumps along the coast told me that the 'breezes' we get are usually only about 500 feet deep. He told me that he can leave the plane at 14,000 feet in a stong easterly and when he gets to about 500 feet above ground be in a strong westerlie. Must be fun in the 'cross over' bit.
Cheers.
