I bought the Ockta brand from John at Complete Joondalup as they were on special, I couldn't bring myself to pay $25 for a "flash" one straight up.

I thought they might be ok just left unattended while drifting and let the boat motion give them a bit of action, hopefully they would be a bit more immune from the pickers that an unattended rod always seem to attract.

What sort of fish did you end up getting on the knife jigs Andy?

i use the raba raba $25 a pop and the any f jigs and they produce a massive amount of fish by just drifting with the rod in the holder . just cant wait to hit em up in the yak.

I thought that these jigs were designed with pinkies in mind? No matter I will give them a go when the weather comes good and put up a report on how they go.

Brenz what sort of depth have you fished these in and what weight jigs were used. I ppicked up a 40g and an 80g. I reckon I will fish them with ABU7000 loaded with 30lb braid and say a 60lb leader.

change the assist hook. i have used these a few time lost a few too. i started using them on the artificial reef in warnbro sound and got nailed big time. on light gear was awsome fun with small pinks sambos and what ever came around on the last one ended up with it all. something xos. used out in 40 meters of water on a very light glassy day and caught a few blackasses with them. but the hooks they come with just arent strong enough after a few fish. i found small assist hooks bette cause they stay hidden in the plastic strings behind. not bad but pacientce is a very good thing with them. Oh and the sambos love them more than the knife jigs we found at my favourite spot

completly depends on what type and weight of jig u are using and what fish you are targeting

mmm looks like we might have to look into if futhur did not realise there was so much to jigging (smile) heard alot about it never tried it mate

Taikabura jigs work pretty well on reef fish... however they require a more slow, finesse style than using typical knife jigs....

I'm a bit reluctant to switch as I don't find it anywhere near as exctiting as 'proper' jigging. It does require a different tackle set up but like any kind of fishing you can make do with other substitutes, it's just not as comfortable.

Don't confuse those with taikabura jigging though, it's completely different.

And explain all the styles, jigs, gear needed, etc. I am sure it would sell well. Hint, hint anyone here. Or has it been done already.

jigging on dvd's seems to me like you pump and wind like hell and hope there is a fish that can catch it

Ive had great succes with these on pinkies and dhies on the bank, fished very slow or very arratic as long as your near the bottom you will if in the right area get smashed up. But yeah change the asssit hooks to alittle bigger and stronger ones and you nothing under 60ld fluro leader because ive been busted up twice now with something bigger as well. Worth buying but they get smahed up pretty quick so if youve got the coin they are good fun to use.
