For ballooning at Steep I recommend Baloon gas (small bottle Boc Gases)

Garfish (big ones) rigged for skipping

Big balloons buy the proper ones from the tackle store (yes they are expensive but trust me just fork out for them).

Also take a casting outfit with a fast retrieve and plenty of lures (Nilsmaster Invincible yellow belly's work the best for me).

My set up's that I used up there and worked fine for me.

Diawa Sealine 300h on a 6ft boat rod loaded with 15kg mono.

Shimano Speedmaster tss4 (spin) on a 8ft uglystick loaded with 6kg mono.

Taylor Marc would be a good bloke to PM as he has been there and done very well.

I found the best thing was

Hold onto your bait, let a heap of line go out with the balloon in freespool then flick the lever on the reel and let go of the bait.

It got the bait out faster.

Just watch others up there and you will pick it up quick. You may find that you won't be able to balloon straight away as others who have been there longer may allready have the spots taken so its a good time to watch and learn as well as chucking lures out for sharkies.

It is best to ask other nearby if they mind if you Balloon next to them.

Have a great day.

I found a good link for rigging a Gar

Just replace the mono with wire though.
