Idea for New Forum

I guess this is mainly to Adam, but I'd love to hear what the rest of you think.

There are so many great, knowledgable fishos on here with awesome tips, but they are kinda spread all over.  I was thinking that it would be cool to have a new forum just for fishing tips.  To keep it organized, maybe it would be best for only Adam or a few people to be able to add topics, then everyone else could leave tips for any of the topics.

I know for me this would be an awesome resource!  and might be a bit more organized than the general discussion forum.

Possible topics could be things like:

Dhufish, Pinkies, Spaniards, Billies, Finding New Ground, One for each Metro Season (Spring, Summer, Winter, Autumn), Special Rigs, Using Your Depth Sounder, Albany, Busso, Exmouth, Broome and so on.

We could encourage people to restrict their comments to giving tips, and not get off topic.  People could even copy great tips, like some of the recent ones about using Sgt Bakers for Dhuie bait, into the appropriate topic hear.

What do you reckon??

but only if Adam wants to take on the extra work - and yes, Webmaster only to insert the appropriate posts. It would help me - i have to be shown beach vs water on a regular basis.

Yup not a bad idea in theory - I guess if Adam was willing it would go under Fishing Essentials. The only problem I see, is that a lot of tips tend to surface (sorry) as part of the 'organic' development of a thread. So some may be missed.

Still; there remains plenty of opportunity to post threads starting off with a tip, or questions that solicit tips - so I can see merit in the idea.

You will never know unlesss you try and learn mate. Thats what IMO this sites all about.........get out there and enjoy! No one in there right mind would take the piss or not teach someone who wants to learn. Getting the right gears usally not a problem either most of us have enough to go around if we are fishing together.

Give it a go and getted hooked! Literally!lol.

i completely agree. great bunch of blokes here.

the good thing about this site is that there always seems to be room for one more.

ill keep an eye out for days where its going to be relatively flat so i can be a useful deckie, less chance of me hurling my guts up (wouldnt even know how strong the stomach is in that scenario!)

you see fellas, this is just the off-topic stuff we would need to avoid!! Haha Cool

it wouldn't have to be alot of new work for Adam, He could appoint a couple of us to over see starting the threads and monitoring content.  I'd be willing to help out a bit here and there.

Colin, it's a fair point...i just figure those type of tips can be pasted into the forum after the fact.

My point is, imagine a thread where some of the fishos on here each gave their top 3 tips on catching dhuies!  That would be worth setting aside for newbies to find easily.  newbies like me!  ha!

No Reason

Thu, 2008-07-24 22:32

No reason why any Tips posted have to be fishing related only.

As luke said tips for what to look for or find info when buying a boat can be usefull as well. Plenty of other topics as well - reel servicing etc.

Boat buying Tip.

Make sure you do an "on water" test and pull the bungs out afterwards, not much fun finding out afterwards you got two big cracks in your hull.
