This module will keep track of your users' karma using the fantastic VotingAPI.
It does so by assigning one vote per user, where the vote is the user's karma.
How does karma work?
--------------------
So, if user 99 for example writes 10 comments, and they all get votes > 0,
the person's karma will stay positive. Vice versa, if user 98 has 10 comments
and they are all flamebaits which get votes < 0, the person's karma will be
negative.
This assumes that rating can be < 0.
Now... some modules work differently, and only allow positive voting (for
example rating from 1 to 10 etc.). This module will work in those cases
too: since karma expires (meaning that only content newer than N days will be
considered for karma), the users' karma will eventually stabilise.
When a users karma reaches a certain negative level I will set it to automatic ban with notification so I can then deal with the situation. Sound good?
lol... ( i'll probably get a _10 rating...lol)...nah seriously...if someone is just trying to stir the pot..fair enough...but when things are diplomatic and relevant....so long as its on track with the thread...whats the harm? sometimes can be good to get the flip side to things....
yeh..thats it... hence why i think i would get a negative 10 rating...lol...i think it will lock you off...and adam/ a modorator will either have words with you...or cut you off ..be it permanent or time out type thing..
debates are good...they give opinions..options..ideas..flip sides etc... untill they get personal/offensive...then its not so good for the iste as a whole... ( yes...been guilty of the above charges...but this is the new DR Phil talking...lol)
as you say debates are good but some people go way overboard, like the perthnow comments site, you have a comment and sometimes all hell breaks loose, think the Editor on the site mentioned should cut some people off. Good idea for Fishwrecked site, I'm fairly new and most of the comments I make, hubbie (Bob) has helped me on somethings, love this site, its nice as a women to be able to have a say without everybody knocking you because you are female but absolutely adore fishing, whether in the boat or land based.
I'd like to see a "Mark All Read" button. That way I could keep up with where I'm up to without having to actually open each and every thread even when it is topic I'm not interested in.

Except for enforcing the veracity of such votes :p
Is the system really all that necessary though?
In fishing, what goes around.... usually does so around the anchor chain

Mod points
Only if us moderators start with +5000 Adam, otherwise we will be having to ban ourselves after our first deleted thread.
