What would be a good choice of bait for flatties and bream?

bluesardines is my favourite
bluesardines is my favourite bait if im chasing both, while alot of guys use bony herring/river prawns for bream, a small gang with blue sards works better most of the time for me.

River prawn
Always loved the river prawn for bream and flatties, been the best bait for me over the years.

Blowies
Yes they were Streetfighter, I can vouch for that going back to 1970 (36 years) when we used to catch millions of them off the jetties in the river.
I'm a big fan of river prawns (don;t get coral prawns) for bait in the Swan and agree on the chartreuse prawnstar as a top lure for flatties.

Pranwstars
You can get them at Big W as well, most tackle stores carry them , if your in Big W have a look at the Berkley lures , there nice and small and perfect for flatties if you want to lure fish as well, and there under $5 .
I have caught plenty of fish on the Berkley lures ( my son landed a 3 kilo murry cod on a $4 Berkley popper) I think people don't rate them because they are so cheap , I upgrade the trebles to VMC and some stronger split rings so it brings them up to around $5 each with upgraded hard ware ( the crank baits are top little lures with a nice tight action ).

Aren't you in Qld Doro?
I think the Queensland flathead grows a heck of a lot bigger than the humble swan river specimens, so I think the prawnstar and a few other prawn imitations would be great including some hardbody lures. You would also do well to check with the local stores for a look at the yabbie patterns as they might do pretty well. Just a thought.

Prawn star
Do you have a photo of your favourite prawnstar so I buy the right one.

Flathead lures
Doro
I remember reading an article by the legend himself Peter Pakula where his second passion after trolling lures for marlin was doing the same for flathead . To target those monster Queensland flatties he was slow trolling the biggest Manns stretch deep divers and basically bouncing them off the bottom in 40 - 50 feet of water , in this manner the puff of sand or mud every few feet as the lure grounds itself along with the slow shimmy entices the strike from the ambush predator .
Never having tried it myself as flatties in the west rarely reach the proportions of the QLD models and given that the Manns he is talking about retail from 35 - 50 notes each it is certainly your call .The only thing I would add is that Pakula is one of Australias living fishing legends who unlike many of us doesn`t need to lie .......
Cheers

PS : I don`t think there is a big enough prawnstar made to handle the 4-6 ft flatties we hope Doro is going to nail over there.

If you're thinking about
If you're thinking about lures, I'd try the River2Sea Static Shag 60 in gold. The flats between the Canning and Mt. Henry bridges are some great flathead grounds with some good bream to be caught as well. The great thing here is that there is little foul ground so a good diver like the SS can bounce along the ground right in the strike zone for a flattie.

Queensland Flattie Pics
The challenge is on Doro, get us a couple of pics on a Prawnstar Lure over the weekend. What river are you going to be hitting?
Looks like us guys in the West will all be locked up inside with the weather not looking the best for a few days.
Best of luck mate.

Hey Bear!
What would be the most successful Bream lure on the WABT at the moment? Soft or Hard?
